Frustrated battery

Recommended Posts

So, after pending $$ and time replacing some parts and gaskets. I had battery on tender the whole time and it showed fully charged. After installing it on the bike nothing happens. Checked with multimeter, charge is good. Nothing! Tried to jump it with my truck, bike cranks but wont fire, rule problem (not my concern here). Battery at full charge, it's 2 yrs old and always stored off the bike inside for the winter. I checked all connections with ammeter, all good. Battery does not have enough charge to even turn on lights. How could it show a full charge, no signs of shorts, but not even have evough to turn on lights? Has anyone run into this problem as well?

Post battery voltage readings. Readings taken at the battery

Key OFF

Key ON not running

Key ON cranking motor

Motor running (assuming it will start)

Yes but if the battery isn't capable of providing enough current the voltage will drop significantly as soon as there's any load on it.

One of the battery terminals may have a bad connection.
