Bought new bike/project. Overtorqued exhaust flange?

Recommended Posts

I dont need tips on how to get them off but i was wondering how the over tightened bolts will effect the bike. The flange? is bent and i am curious if i should be preparing for anything to break or wear out. Or is it simply just torque it to the right spec and itll be fine. These things were probably just impacted on. tmpPhoto.jpg

A dude and the local cycle works told me I needed a new exhaust setup to fix the issue, and even though i want an aftermarket one I figured that was not the case. I meam besides rust bolts and bent a little it seems fine.

That guy is lying.  This is a pretty normal situation. Over tightened to stop an air leak instead of replacing the crush washer....
