1986 cr250 fork rebuild help.

Hello, I'm in need of a bit of help with my 1986 cr250r forks I'm trying to rebuild. I've taken off the fork seals and the rings that go after them. I've unbolted the drain, the top spring cap, and the dampening rod bolt at the bottom. Can someone please tell me what else I am missing to take them all apart?

I just rebuilt a set of 86 CR250-500 forks maybe I can help. Can you send a pic where you are now with them?

If it is like my 88 CR250, you need to snatch the tube while holding the leg secure.

What do you mean snatch it? And yes please, I could use those pictures of the service manual.

After you take out the dust seal,and the spring clip that fits in a groove you hold the fork leg and yank or pull on the upper and it will come apart. It will have some resistance but keep pullingit usually takes 2 or 3 good pulls. Make sure you have the center adjuster out first.

U just hold the both ends in either hand, collapse the slider some then quickly snatched them apart. It takes a bit of force but it won't hurt the shock or you... that's how it's done with all forks that I've worked on
