YZ250X suspension thread

Recommended Posts

Haven't seen this on here but... Wanted to get YZ250X owners to open up about suspension settings, mods.  I am running mine box stock at 100MM Sag, 14 Clicks on front and rear, compression mid way.

Terrain is in Western Oregon Coastal mountains.  Lots of Clay, rock, wet and hard pack dirt riding.  The bike feels very good and wondering what others have done to improve suspension (I know it's already VERY good).

Get the rear shock sprung for your weight.

What silencer/SA is on that bike?

I adjust all compressions full soft for single track, almost full hard for mx, and in the middle for open trails. I'm pretty far in on rebound and never change it.

I added 5 ml to each fork for mx to help with flat landings.

I weight 135 without gear.

Can you explain what the issues are with the stock suspension?

My post from the suspension forum:

I went with a bigger change in the MV (comp only) and less change on the BV versus what you're proposing.  It is excellent and versatile.  These forks work amazingly well at being plush while still resisting bottoming.  I wouldn't be afraid to go a little softer on the MV to gobble up the trail junk.  Here's what I did:

I'm an A-level off-road rider, 165 in gear and ride a wide variety of terrain from woods to desert sand.  With this setting, I can dial it up 6-10 clicks on the comp and ride hard desert or cut it back for mountain riding.  You get some feedback through the bars but it's mild.  This setting is probably a little stiff for a new rider or someone who focuses on slower trails.  It's probably too soft for a fast MX rider.
