Hi just got a 1978 xl 350 that doesnt start, cleaned carb, replaced old gas and wont kickstart...was leaking gas through two pink tubes hanging down.. Was wondering if anyone knows how to get it to start or what next and also what the two tube pink tubes coming out of the carb go too..? Thanks

Do you have spark?  the tubes coming from the carby are overflow and atmospheric vent. the overflow is for when the needle and seat are not closing properly due to crud on them or a worn needle causing fuel to flow into the carb non stop can also be a miss adjusted float if the float is to high it will overflow if the float is to low it will starve at higher revs. instead of flooding the engine the excess fuel dumps from the carb.

the atmospheric vent allows air in and out of the fuel bowel (if no air gets out no fuel will get in) sounds to me like you ether need to clean the needle and seat or replace them if theres a ring around the end of the needle replace it and check the float hight. just as a test leave the fuel off drain the carb and remove the spark plug use a squirty bottle or similar to prime the engine(squirt some fuel in the plug hole) put the plug back in and try to start if it fires then you know its the carb and or air cleaner. see how you go and good luck

let us know how you got on......cheers
