1982 XR200 - Frame Up Build?

Recommended Posts

So... I originally planned to send this 1982 XR200 frame to the scrapyard with my chum. I purchased it with a XL185 with plans to swap the 185 into my XL125 frame, but haven't got around to it and probably won't anytime soon as I am fed up with my 125. I dragged the frame into the garage and after some thinking, I've decided to possibly keep the frame and build another new bike. The frame is rust free, and all it needs is a new paint job and two motor mounts welded back on. No biggie.

I just don't know what motor to put in it. I can't find an XR200 anywhere. Went to the bike junkyard in my area and found a 1983 XR250R, rusty frame.... but everything is there except the carb. The bike has been sitting outside for 10+ years. Guy wanted $250... told him I'd think about it.

Or should I just say screw it and scrap this thing?

You'd be amazed at how much some of those parts will sell for on ebay.

I'm about done with a 1982 xr200r complete rebuild and could have bought a nice 3-4 yr old bike for the same price. It's gonna be sweet though
