Old Dirt Bikers Rule! It's just a fact...!

Just wanted to pen something about the brethren of dirt bikers....

And in specific, this goofy crf230f forum...

It is awesome all the help that is given in the way of information sharing and tech help that so many take the time to give...

And now I have my first dirt bike friend from Alaska... 

I was looking for some viable remote reservoir xr/xl shocks on eBay... Found one that was missing the adjuster knob on the reservoir... I asked if anyone had a spare knob since Honda doesn't stock one anymore... And OssaGP said I could have a whole shock assembly for the price of shipping... I am grateful to the point being embarrassed over his generous hook up...!! Plus now I know who to hunt with when I go for Alaskan Game...lol...

Unique to this forum is that it has lifelong dirt bikers who really know what time of day it is, all willing to save people time, money, and headaches by helping out....

The knowledge is real, the advice is solid...

The majority of forums have lots of advice, backed by very little knowledge... That's a fact ...

A friend of mine who used to work R&D for HotCams summed it up best when he compared many advice chuckers to parrots... He said a parrot can talk all day, but doesn't have any idea what he's really saying.... Just repeating sounds he has heard....

If that isn't stone cold truth, nothing is!

I'd add something if I could but you have pretty much said what is always in my mind.  I bought my CRF230 and joined this forum in late 2009 and the amount of quality information found and shared in here is just staggering.

If you need shock built and revalved PM me. On my new testing 1990 Xt250R shock it works great. Only my adjustment Comp full soft on number 1. My rebound full soft number 1. With this knowledge my Shock guy could tune next one less Comp. Faster rebound so you can play more with adjusters.

Question for you , seat height affected by that shock length? At 5'8" , I'm not looking for any higher seat height...?

I think about the same,if you worry about seat height. My shock guy could install small spacer in shock to lower 1/2in. Im only 5,9 with very tall trials tire my bike raised way up.Still im easy flat footed even with knees bent. All riders tell me that bike way too small for you. JAAAAAA! thats the point so old cant ride looks good.

Last Sat/Sun the Old lizards ride again 2 days 208 miles. The oldest one 75 years also the fastest rider. On this rare occasion I decided to ride my 450 others on  xr650r,WR450s,Crf450. None of us young guys where able to hang with 75 year old on Xr440. Dont never knock the Xr440 with old guy.

Does anyone know what grit I should use to hone the cylinder on a CRF 230f? It is standard bore and not terribly worn. Just glazed. Using OEM rings. Thanks.

Im the only one I know with Alaska bib overalls in Mexico. When I ride my all black 450 they call me Zorro JAAA!    I did not want to destroy the nice new factory blue plastic. My brother sold me all black plastic for 50 bucks.

Use finest grit.  Some people just use sandpaper to barely scratch the surface, at an angle, of course.
