Ideas for 93 xr250r rear fender

Recommended Posts

Hi there. Newb here working on my first project bike of my 93 xr250r. I am wanting to make her look a bit more modern with an mx style rear fender but I am having a hard time.

Any ideas of one besides the Maier rear fender that is MX style? I searched high and low and finally, begrudgingly bought one off eBay from China that said it was xr250 univeral, which it was not and will not work with my year. Thank you for your help!

Thank you for the research S.O.A.N.Z but the Maier is one I am not interested in. That one is a little bulbous and I was looking for a more flat version. Similar to a supermoto type. It looks a bit too "turtle shell" to me.

I'm willing to try a different year/model and was also reaching out to see if others had made other versions work.

the big problem with what your trying to do is any fender you get will have to be modified in some way to fit. the one you have in your pix (96-99 xr fit) looks close maybe an appropriate cut with a hack saw may get it to fit better. other wise I found these but they too would have to be cut in to fit properly.

if not youl just have to keep looking around. even try models other than Honda? good luck I hope you find what your looking for:)

Thank you S.O.A.N.Z & vicxr400 for the info.

That helps quite a bit and gives me some ideas to go on. I googled and googled away trying to find some hacks/ideas so I appreciate your response and links on my behalf.

Once I get this all figured out I'll post what worked for me and updates.

Thanks again!

I just bought a CRF 250/450X rear fender for my '95 XR250R.

It's going to take fair amount of cutting and drilling to make it fit, but I think it will look good once I'm done.

Hi there, thank you again for the responses. I ended up with a $20 "universal" EBay rear fender that said it would work with a 250r...it did not. So hacking was needed.

The fender did not match up at all with the factory holes. The way we secured it was sawing a slit on each side of the fender where it comes us to the arched metal seat frame so it butted up more. Clamps were used on both side of the fender to secure it to the back rails and another at the top of the fender screwed through to the metal seat arch.

It was not an easy hack and took some time but it came out very nice and more secure than I thought it would be with just the three mounting points. I added a Tusk light/plate kit and it came out real clean.

My 'Project XR' came out just as I had envisioned it.
