Mid 90's CR spring rates

Recommended Posts

I recently picked up a 95 CR125.  I was doing a little research and comparisons of 90's "stealie" era spring rates for the 125's.

1992=Forks .375 Shock 4.8

1995= Forks .379, Shock 5.4

1997 (still a stealie, the 250 went alum frame in 97) Fork .41 Shock 4.9

wondering what happened between 92, and 95 to go from a 4.8 shock (seems right) to a 5.4 Shock spring.

and then from 96 to 97 going from a 5.4 back down to a 4.9 stock Shock spring.

when you look at recommended spring rates for rider weight, 1992 to 1995 going from a 4.8 to a 5.4 would be like a 35lb difference in stock rider weight. Same in reverse from the 1995 bike to the 1997.  What changed in these frames/shocks to go that far on the springs?

Don't think the 95 used that rate , might be a typo

In 96 the shock added a hs comp adjustment but I'm lost when it comes to different linkage components
