Saw these pics on a local classified ad for a 2012 250SX. First time I'd seen this done and a pretty nice job!

great job hes done there. its amazing how ktm after all these years and frame variations , the plastics and subframe can all swap over so easily. a few years ago i fitted 2013 tank/plastics/subframe to a old 96 bike. 

also done a 2008 conversion on a 2003 and a 2004 to a 1998. its brilliant

So I guess he is using a 2016 factory frame..? Subframe mounts is totally different so either change mounts or new frame. 

Nice work but hardly "amazing" considering what has to be done.

According to the advert it's a 2012 frame with 2016 450 plastics, subframe fitted

Well it doesnt fit without tank, seat, subframe and frame mods. Look at the difference where it fastens on the frame, easily 10cm up/down.

That's the point. He's  made the tank fit with a new mount and welded new tabs so the 2016 subframe will fit.

So going back to what you said about his work being 'hardly amazing ' , he's actually done a good job of fitting all the later parts to his bike.
