I have come across a KX125 in boxes, it has a 98 frame and i believe a 98 motor as well. I started to assembly everything and have found that instead of an engine number on the cases, it is stamped KX125 FMF 909. This is in the exact location that the engine number is located on my other KX125. Does anyone know if FMF and 909 once teamed up to build 125's? Either for factory riders or just engine builds in general? It also has a Factory Connection state cover. The top end was not included so i am guessing that was taken off before being sold. I know factory bikes have a lot of special parts removed before sold.

The bike also has a newer electronic controlled Carb and I know they did not have any electrical going into the carb for years after 98'. It also has a custom wire harness with an aftermarket injection control until with a 3 different settings to change.

I basically just trying to find out if FMF and 909 once built factory bikes, or if this is just a massively modified KX 125.

Thanks in advance.

Also has a custom wired stator. Ive worked for a couple of teams and know they take a lot of the one off parts off of bikes when they finally sell them. Like this was missing the complete top end, stock clutch and kick start where put back on, and the exhaust was missing. Most pro bikes have 1 off or fully custom exhausts not available to the public.

looks like the original number has been ground off and someone stamped their own number on there

Yep. Ground it down and stamped it even further down into it.

Mix and match on the carb boot and all the dirt equals some one ragged the shit out of it in the past. Too bad for the bike.  Cool find, though.

Another odd combo is that it does not have an  FMF Racing igntion cover. They made them. I used to own one.

It doesn't look like some back yard hack made that stamp.  I'd reach out to FMF on it, post a pic on their FB page.

Any bracing or added welding on the frame?  Skid plate tabs welded to frame?

The solenoid on the carb is the stock powerjet 98-on.

doubt it. More like someone stole it and stamped their own number on there. not hard to stamp something like that.

Again I have worked for a couple of teams. This is not a hack job. These are actuall FMF and 909 stamps. The engine number are was ground down with a mill. Very few people actuallly have the machine to do this unless they own a shop with one.

Im just wondering if anyone knows if FMF & 909 built engines for teams or just race engines for riders. The stator and wiring is also not a hack job and neither is the work that's been done to the stator. I've been around 1000's of bikes. I know a hack job vs a professional build. And this was not some rando throwing parts together.

As for the carb. I have an 02 KX 125 as well. The carb on that is an manually adjustable screw and not an electrical one like this one.

Thats right its not a hack job - its someone with access to a mill ( do you know how many machine shops there are that can do that ) and has good skills in etching

What do you mean by electrical carby ? you mean the Dynatek Electrical Ignition that are a dime a dozen like this one ?

"909" is not some random number.

rjmosch, that carb is stock Keihin, your 02 has a Mikuni TMX.  The powerjet (solenoid) opens and closes a port inside the carb.  It's normally open and when the engine revs to high RPM it closes off the port, leaning out the mixture for overrev.

Post on VitalMX in the Old School forum, lots of knowledge there.  Make sure you post lots of pics.

If it's not so hard, would mind showing me some pics of other dirt bikes that have had this done. Do you know a singlet person that would pull a motor out and take it down to the cases just to have FMF & 909 stamped in it for shits and giggles?

And those aren't etches. They are all perfectly even depth. It's a complete FMF stamp.

Correct, the 909 is actually the area code that FMF is located in. They had used the 909 as a name for some of their parts such as handlebars and grips. I know this doesn't help answer your question regarding the bike itself but I thought I'd clarify the 909 part.

Thanks or that. That makes me think this was at least a bottom end they worked on.

As far as the frame, that looks completely stock. I honestly do not believe this is the frame that the motor originally came with.

Hey good one douche! Are you retarded? Or just can't read? Why don't you take a shot a rereading what I wrote.

You said there wasn't a top end, any pics of the inside of the cases for signs of port matching?

Unfortunantly I didn't even think of looking before I put the top end back on.

Gotta say, man, that's a good quick way to make people not want to help. I don't think any offense was intended, hence the cute emojis.

FMF owned Factory 909 for a while. I think this is as simple as emailing FMF and see what info they can offer.
