2016 KTM 450sxf fuel pump issue

Recommended Posts

Bike is almost two years old. 75 hours. I haven't had any issues. It died today about 3 or four miles from the truck. Had to get towed back. When I bumped the starter, I could hear the fuel pump run, but it sounded different. Once I got home, I tapped the starter with the fuel cap off and it sounded like gas was spraying in the tank. I pulled the pump assembly and found the supply line kinked and leaking. I'm trying to decide if I should just get a whole new unit, or try to repair it. I'm leaning toward a new one since breaking down sucks.IMG_20170730_202512979_BURST001.jpg

Just replace the fuel line and the big filter. The big filter shall be replaced every 40h or so if you want to avoid the fuel pump running itself down.

I just ended up buying the whole assembly from rmatvmc for 278.00. Not an easy install. This breakdown was a big bummer because I've loved this bike otherwise.
