Mikuni Carb ID??

Recommended Posts

Hi Ya'll.  I could use your expertise here.  I have what looks like be a late 80's/early 90's Mikuni 38 MM carburetor.  At least I think it's a 38MM.  I bought it on EBAY for my '90 RMX250, but it's not the correct carb for my bike.  The exhaust side port is too small for my RMX and the air/fuel screw is not the same.  Also, the throttle cable insert is threaded in.  Not so on my other 90 RMX.  Are any of you able to tell me which model this is and what year/model bike it fits?  I'm just trying to resell it.  Any help is appreciated.  IMG_1202.jpg.5eeff7993bab5488d7a2ac10671a1193.jpgIMG_1203.jpg.704e3902e5e33b9d719d4378dd22d251.jpgIMG_1204.jpg.0d884040b213ec15d2ab9fdae27d8876.jpgIMG_1205.jpg.2ddba27a548e1a70504362d710156f0c.jpgIMG_1206.thumb.jpg.c764aec6d05c1ba08bf380692d8e892c.jpgIMG_1207.thumb.jpg.c13bf3226f1ab6ca420362e88e4f1445.jpg

I don't see any numbers at all.  It's so close to the carb on my other completed 90 RMX250, but it's just not the same.  Looks a wee bit older.

They are typical of early/mid 80s bikes.

There is no way to know what bike it was originally from without exact measurements and knowing the measurements of all bikes that came with that carb as a OEM.

Key measurements are the ID at the slide, ID on each end, the OD of each and and the length from the airboot side to in the intake manifold side. That still will not tel you what it came from but will help you figure out what it will fit.

It's not a fit.  Dammit.  Too small on the intake side.  Seller on EBAY gave me a refund without wanting it returned...which was amazing.  Now, I have an unidentified carb that I can't use.  It makes a great paperweight though.  Thanks for all of your help and info!
