Splitting cases

Recommended Posts

Is this possible without the proper tool? They're pretty expensive to buy for something I won't be using all that often, but if it's the only way I'll stop being a tight arse

The right tool for the job always is the best way to go. The only tool I don't use is the case splitter. Your going to need flywheel puller, clutch basket holder, ring plier and crank puller.

So how do you split cases without a puller?

I tap on the case with a rubber mallet takes time but after two broken case splitters it's the most reliable

Did the trick nicely, thanks mate

You can also rent, or borrow, a steering wheel puller set from your local auto parts house. It is MUCH SAFER than beating on the cases with a plastic hammer, and guaranteed to get those cases apart evenly, and efficiently.
