Nates yz250 bike build

Hey guys I'm new to TT, I've been a member since 2011 and never really posted anything, anyway I remembered I was a member and wanted to share my bike build with you guys.. hopefully this is the right spot, if I'm wrong let me know! So anyway.. I got this 2005 yz250 off craigslist blown up... its a nice bike and has came with a couple different pipes and expansion chambers, a desert tank, and a good amount of aftermarket parts.. I tore into it and the crank rod bearings were completely square, so now shes sitting completely apart until Tuesday when my engine rebuild comes in.. hotrods crank and wiseco piston with all the gaskets and everything necessary to rebuild the engine. I will keep you guys updated with everything I do to the bike in this thread... I have graphics and a restyled plastic kit coming as well

I have a yz250 too. Best mods imo are ride Engineering billet caliper, ss front brake line, crf master cylinder, motostuff 280 rotor, revalved suspension, buy some used sss forks on ebay, 9oz flywheel weight, robbed seat, dep exhaust, 22mm ride Engineering triple clamps with Honda steering stabilizer, head work (PC did mine), aftermarket pegs, and boysen rad valve. I did a bunch of other mods to my yz too but noticed little or no improvement in performance. The above all made a big difference on my bike. Shop smart and u can do all the above mods for under $2500 including revalved sss forks. The rubber mount triples and twisted Engineering bars made vibration equal to that of my 17 ktm 250 sx. The Honda steering damper helps settle the front end and staves off fatigue later in your ride. And the brakes on my yz are even better than my ktm which has yet to get the motostuff 280mm rotor put on it. Unless you're a really fast rider I wouldn't do anything more than a boyesen rad valve.

Awesome man thanks for the info! I'll take that into account when I build this bike and get the engine back in the frame! @digarcia1987

If you have ever been in my restoration thread, seen my shop bench, where I punch out sweet machines, you would probably be hospitalized then.

Hahaha the pictures of the full bike before I took it apart is from the previous owners garage! It was definitely a mess! I didn't have any pics when I got it home I couldn't help but tear it down right away!🤘🤘

I guess my garage is somewhat messy too 🙄🙄! Just got home and trying to finish the engine tonight!

Hahaha I knew someone was gonna bring that up!! Just so happened I had it setting there for the pic😂😂 good catch though!!

Okay guys the bike is waiting on the restyled plastics at the moment! But the engine is in and heat cycles are done!! A quick overview of the bike:

ENGINE: wiseco top end, hotrods main bearings and crank, wr transmission, gytr flywheel weight

EXHAUST: procircuit everything

CONTROLS: pro taper bars with pro taper grips, gpr steering stabilizer, tusk clutch perch and lever. There's some other parts, I will post some close up pics when the plastics come in tomorrow

Hey it's hard to tell from the pictures but it looks like you've got sss forks. Inset octagon fork caps and stepped tubes over the seals. Could be a early 06 built in 05?

I might be wrong tho

Nice bike!

That's what I thought at first when I saw the bike! But the guy told me the previous owner actually got a set from an 06 instead of getting a new bike! So I was stoked on that! And thanks man! Still waiting on plastics! UPS screwed up and now I have to wait until monday!!
