Buying Talon Hubs- from which bike?

Recommended Posts

Hey All-

Im installing Talon hubs, some lightweight spokes and nice rims on my 230F. Working with Dubya. The question is, which model bike should we be using for the base? They have hubs for the CRF150R that will work, even have 240mm rotors from galfer that fit for the front; but they dont make the high-end carbon composite hubs for a 150R.

If Im going to soend the money, Id like to go "full retard" with carbon composite hubs. Any suggestions for how to go about this? Both front and rear. Yes i know ill need to do a rear disc conversion. No peoblem

What size axle?  15mm CRF150R?

CRF250/450R wheels use a 20 x 37 bearing, not sure if you can even find 15 x 37.

You might could go with 20 x 37 and machine spacers which go over your 15mm axle and into the 20mm bearings.

CFR150R front end including 15mm axle. If the only issue is the axle/spacers then id be happy to machine a new axle (titanium) to fit a better hub - so long as it fits the forks!

You will need to find out what the hubs bearing size is OD.  I do believe there is one person on eBay selling 15 x 37 x 9 2RS wheel bearings.

I found this trick little trinket recently, very racer, radial mount, 2-piston, opposed, rear caliper and bracket.  Opposed pistons mean not pins or bracket for the caliper to "slide" on since both pads will retract with the pistons.
