650L backfiring on deceleration

Recommended Posts

Had top end rebuilt with stage1 cam and we rejetted the carb  and all good but then I put a new pipe DG pipe on and now it pops/backfires on deceleration..  I heard its too lean..  Current jets are55/158which worked fine until the new pipe..  Is it a jetting issue?  Pulling plug later to take a look but its runs great..

Try adjusting the fuel screw. Some bikes lean pop , others after fire in the exhaust  because they're rich. It probably did it before to some extent , but now you hear it more with the louder pipe.

Mine pops a lot on deceleration, but runs great everywhere else, including right after starting it when cold.  Mine only does it at higher RPMs, so my shifting has something to do with it.

If you want to get rid of the popping, put the stock pipe back on it, or something with more back pressure.  It's not hurting anything.
