Left case removal

Recommended Posts

2008 crf250r, I removed the 7 bolts around left case/cover and the oild filter because Im trying to put the timing chain back on. It fell off the sprocket when I dropped in down in the engine. After removing those bolts, I cant get the thing to come off and I have tried tapping around the perimeter with a hammer. Is there something else to remove so it will come off?

Unless I'm mistaken and this is the outer left case and there are 8 bolts (#12, 13, 14) not including bolts 1 x #1 and 2 x #27 which I assume you already have off along with the shifter

Then there are a coupe of tabs around the outside of the case you can put a screw driver around and gently pop off

Hope this helps :)

I was able to pry it off using the tabs. THank you!

Careful prying.  You don't want to mar the mating surfaces.  You should have been able to tap it with a plastic/rubber mallet and rock it off.  Too late for that.
