Xcfw 250 2008 smoke and oil

Recommended Posts

Today while riding I discovered white smoke coming from exhaust.

After getting home and washing bike I decided to clean air filter.

I've noticed a puddle of oil in airbox (not air filter oil)

Is it engine oil getting by?

Bike has only 110 hours, is it time for piston and rings?

Is there anything else that I should address while doing it.

I Will be getting Vertex kit. As I've heard that they do our OEM stuff.

I've replaced top end on my yz450f 08, I assume that ktm won't be that much different.

Thanks 20170819_191140.jpg20170819_222614.jpg20170819_222545.jpg

Today instead of trying to get one more ride our of bike I have decided to tear top end apart.
Happy that I've done it as top ring on piston was completely out of whack, I'm surprised that bike wasn't blowing blue smoke constantly(gold new ring-silver old)

Cylinder is good, new piston and rings are in, new valve steam seals, valves got cleaned from carbon build up.
Only thing left is to put top cover, tensioner, connect carb, replenish fluids and fire it up.
