TTR smokes

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone im a new member of this page and im hoping i can get a little help. i recently became the owner of a early 2000's Yamaha TTR 125. it had a fairly decent amount of issues like a crack in the crank case but with a little bit of ingenuity we were able to fix them. but my latest issue is the bike spits oil out of the exhaust and smokes like crazy. we think it may be a headgasket or a piston ring but i would love to hear some ideas you guys may have. the bike runs well other then the smoking and oil coming out of the exhaust. any help would be greatly appreciated thanks!

A few possibilities:

-worn piston rings / excessive blow-by (check for a clogged crank case breather hose)

-worn valve guides/seals (usually smokes on start up then clears out)

-blown head gasket that allows the cylinder head oil pressure feed to leak into the combustion chamber
