09 CRF250 Rebuild advice

Recommended Posts

Rebuilding an 09 that had a rod bearing fail. I used a die grinder to smooth off the bumps where the crank web rotates. Used a file to lightly file the spots pushed out where the crankcase gasket sits. Whats y'alls opinions? Look good enough or need more work? Or should I buy new crankcase halves? Small crack through where balancer shaft goes through LH crankcase shaft.

Doesn't look terrible. Make sure there is nothing embedded that could flake off. As for the gasket surface you really need a large surface plate with a very fine grit sand paper to flatten the sealing surface. Remove little material as possible.
