What was your first bike

Recommended Posts

1965 Honda S90.  I made it dirt worthy by taking off the front fender, bobbed the rear fender, cross braced handlebars, upswept straight pipe (equipped with a Snuff-or-Not), and trials universal tire on the front, knobby on the rear.  Road that bike for four years.  The kids nowadays don't know how good they have it.

First bike I ever rode was a late 70s Honda Z50.  I also rode an early early 80s YZ80.  But the first bike I bought with my own money a 1988 RM125.  I hated that bike.

2000 PW50 when I was 4yrs old. Dad got it to me all new, put it under the Christmas tree (well, it didn't really fit "under") all wrapped in a few days before christmas. Tried to take a peek under the cover more than once but dad didn't let me . As soon as it was unwrapped I forced my dad to let me go out and ride it in the snow, didn't take all to many rides before we had to go to the emergency after I crashed into a tree, 4 stiches but got on the bike as soon as we got home :ride:

Good ol' times!

Not a bike but rather an ATV, brand new 1983 Honda Big Red 3 wheeler,

200cc, semi-auto 5-speed, high/low dual range, no reverse, about 4" of fork travel, solid axle rear.

Bad choice, 6 months later traded it in for a 1984 ATC 200X sport ATV, rode the wheels off that for about 10 years.

First dirt bike: 1986 Honda CR125R, brand new / leftover in '87.

I had an rm125 for a while, liked it a lot but had to sell it because 4 bikes and a quad (1986 trx200sx) in the garage was too many...for my family, but not for me🤣🤣

:lol: All these kids on here... first bike a 2004, 1984...

First bike was a 1965 Yamaha Trailmaster 80/1967 Trailmaster 100 with the rear fenders bobbed... then moved into 1970 SL70 and 100's and 73 XR75's. But use to also try to ride Dad's 1969 Kawasaki Sidewinder 250 converted for desert racing complete with a Hooker pipe in the day. 70's went quick but then slid into a 1979 Kawasaki KX125 my senior year for MX racing. An many bikes since, stable is still 7 bikes deep, wish I had some of the old machines still... But the stallions are 1974 Honda CR250M, 1998 Honda XR600R, 2012 KTM 300 XC-W, 2014 KTM 450 SX-F FE, 2017 KTM 450 EXC-F 6 Days and a 2006 50th Anny Yamaha R1 for pavement ripping... Started riding at 8 and at 56 no signs of slowing down yet but I have to admit I do tend to look before I leap these days... :lol:

When I was 13 I got to take over my moms bike because she never rode it. 69 Suzuki T200. I took off the headlight and turn signals and put knobbies on it.

1966 Suzuki 80cc used off road. Riding gear consisted of a cheap football helmet (no chin strap), sneakers, and cloth gardening gloves.

Oh I am, I also have a 73 CR250M that is really rough but planning on a restore when I retire. The other is clean and I keep going back and forth from it being a garage queen or doing some vintage racing on her. If I did I would change the take to keep that pristine. Already has reed intake, DG pipe and WORKs shocks...

First dirt bike was an old Honda (circa early 70's) 2 cylinder 4 stroke. They made a street version with a lower front fender, but I can't even remember what the model designation was.

First "motor" cycle was a 4 HP Western Auto mini bike when I was 13 (quick ride in the way back machine to 1971 :smirk:). First "real" motorcycle was a street bike, 1972 Suzuki XR6 Hustler 250 2T. Crashed my brains out on the mini bike and my parents refused to have anything to do with another one, so had to wait until I was 18 and could buy the Zuk myself. Dirt bikes were nothing around here back then, but twistie roads, Camaros, Corvettes, and street bikes with 4 ply tires and no suspension ruled. Nothing short of a Biblical miracle that I lived through those early days.
