Quick question

Depends what is broken in the starting system. If it were say, a burned out brushes in the starter, then yes. If something in the mechanism broke off and say, lodged in a gear, then probably not.

My bendix on its way out would sometimes halfway engage and stay that way if you tried to Estart it.  There were a few kickstarts that were hard as hell with the bendix semi-engaged, but it backed itself out and I was able to kick her alive.  New bendix, crown wheel, and battery has solved all my Estart woes.
