01 wr250f with a 03 yz250f crank

Hey guys searched high and low about this and only keep finding the same stuff.

 

So iv got a wr250f 01 that turned from valve adjustment to full strip down and rebuild as it does ?, so as i was pulling the flywheel off didnt realise the bolts that came with the puller were way to long and farrrked the stator windings well and good, now i figured since its got a 290 kit and hotter cams on it id just go get myself a yz250f 03 crank and now cant work out what combination of flywheel and stator and cdi etc etc to make it all bloody work. 

 

Anyone here already gorn through all the headache that can shed some light?

Nope, haven't done it, but 03 will not work because its e-start and is longer for the flywheel and starter gear.  Heard YZ might work.  You'll have to search it more.  Look at Partzilla or on here.  I saw some stators on eBay for a cheaper alternative.

I think it would work, 03 is definitely not electric start. Especially the YZ ?

Not to mention, up through 03 I'm pretty sure they are the same engines besides the gears. You could always measure.

Sorry  thought you were comparing WR to WR 01 to 03.  I've heard of people using the YZ 03 crank, but don't have personal experience.

I would be surprised if they weren't the same part number honestly.

I have an 01 wr 250f im parting out, im in aus though. If your interested in any parts message me. The valve train is no good though.

Iv seen a few people say they have done it but have never came back with their combination of parts, scottwr ill measure up if i can turn out the center of my flywheel to suit the yz crank and might look at getting the stator off of you as me busting mine up is whats giving me all tge drama atm.
