slat body FCR 39MM gaskets or rebuilt kit

Recommended Posts

Hey all just bought a 2005 DRZ 400S. I found a used FCR 39MM carb that is in good condition. No wear on the throttle slide with no pitting. Looks clean. Want to rebuild, new gaskets and rejet it. Think I am using the right Terminology. I am a newbie with all this. I will be riding mostly from 3000 to 7500 feet. Have a stock exhaust and will do the 3x3 modification. wondering if there is a kit i can buys or do i need to by Individual parts....

Hey all just bought a 2005 DRZ 400S. It is completely stock. I found a used slant body FCR 39MM carb that is in good condition. No wear on the throttle slide with no pitting. Looks clean. Want to do a rebuild.. Or new gaskets and rejet it. Think I am using the right Terminology. I am a newbie with all this. From what I have been reading changing the carb is the best bang for you buck and a good place to start. I will be riding mostly from 3000 to 7500 feet. Have a stock exhaust for now and will do the 3x3 modification. wondering if there is a kit i can buys or do i need to by Individual parts. Also is there anything I need to do to the carb. Watched a video about wire modification?? Thanks

Most 'kits' are not OEM and fit/quality is hit or miss.

Your best bet is to use OEM jetting parts, replace what needs to be replaced. Be aware that not all FCR's 'fit'. I've moved this to the DRZ section when you'll get the most guidance.

You'll need to post pics of your carb as they are not all the same. Some will bolt up with available OEM parts, others will require custom made parts and/or backyard engineering.

Yes post a pic. If it's the same slanty I used, off a DRZ400E, I can tell you all the parts needed.

pictures of the carb. That is what I have read my self about splitting the body. You have to get a custom Gasket made. Thank all for the information and replies. Much appreciate

Obviously don't split it if you don't need to. If you need a midbody gasket, you're right, they don't make it anymore. but I found a reproduction one on ebay once, I could probably find it again. The midbody gasket is the one in the bottom left of the pic attached.

You have a removeable intake bell, so here are the parts you need to get it working with your  stock airboot.

If you want to keep your vacuum petcock you will need to screw this into your cylinder head.
