05 525 shock rebound adjuster

Recommended Posts

So I have an 05 525. I was trying to set the suspension up for me when I first bought it. The rebound clicker felt really tight so I put a little muscle into it and it broke free. "Nice" I was thinking, for a second or two, the clickers were working again I got up to 24 before I started thinking something was up. It never seated in or out. What has happened and what i the fix for this? Please tell me it's an easy one

you can buy individual parts thru KTM for the shcok

Do you know which part needs replacing? I'm not exactly sure on how it works, my manual doesn't show how to disassemble this part. I'm confident enough to pull it apart but not sure if it is an easy fix with basic tools

I actually just found a youtube clip on replacing it. Looks easy as. But I think the tread in mine may be stripped. So more than likely it'll need to be re-tapped if possible

you may have just busted the spring and the ball fell out

Hopefully it that easy. To remove this you have to release the nitrogen in the shock. Do you just get it refilled at any motorcycle repair shop?

It was fully seized in there. Wouldn't wind in or out so without thinking gave it a massive twist without using penetrating fluid or CRC. Idiot. It is highly possible. It still clicks, although its not an audible click, you can feel the clicks. It just doesn't seat in or out. I'll call the local tomorrow and ask about the nitrogen filling, if they do it I'll rip into it tomorrow and post my findings. Cheers for your help man

So you were right. It was rusty as in there. But now I have the problem of what the heck is that hanging down in front of the rest of the adjusting screw? I've soaked it in CRC and tried pushing it up, but it won't budge20170912_182944.jpg20170912_183003.jpg20170912_183037.jpg

not sure never pulled a shock apart b4 it must be under pressure if its not budging - might have to let the gas off

So I assumed part #20 was the gas release screw. When I undone it there was only the slightest hiss of escaping gas so I assumed it had leaked out or something. I didnt try #8 in the pic which could also be it. I'm just a bit wary because there's fricken warning labels everywhere ha ha2017-09-12 20.21.54.png

Number 20 should have been hit, its a small amount of gas under high pressure.

Yeah from the videos I watched this didn't compare to that. It was a very small amount and there was barely any pressure behind it. What would the reason for that be
