How to remove ktm 200 Exc spark arrestor

Hi, I just bought a 2005 ktm 200 Exc and I've been told to remove the spark arrestor in the exhaust, how would I go about doing this? Im from South Africa and don't really have any restrictions on this type of thing 

 

I've made the decision to remove it so please don't tell me I shouldn't for whatever reason. I just can't find any information on how to remove it.

Just curious. Why do "they" tell you to remove it? What is the advantage other than looks?
