Drz 400sm CV carb valve replacement

I just stared noticing that if I don't turn off my gas when I park my bike my carb gets flooded, gets really hard to start and I end up with a ton of gas in my oil. So I took my carb apart and removed the "valve/piston" and noticed gouges in it. So I ordered a replacement and when it got here the replacement "valve" is plastic and the existing is aluminum. Is that right? I ordered an oem part for my model and year. Can anybody tell me if that's right? Here's the part I'm talking. It's number 16 on the diagram

Not sure why the slide has a gouge but #18 is the reason it's flooding. In all likelihood, it only needs a new o-ring.

Are you sure you have a stock carburetor? Post a picture of it.

The part you ordered has nothing to do with flooding.  As said above it is the float valve you need and yes probably only the O ring.  Not sold separately by Suzuki but a 1/16" X 5/16" US size O ring will work.  Viton material is preferred.

I'm thinking your existing slide valve is also plastic not aluminum.  I could be wrong but either way the slide valve is fine plastic or aluminum.
