I have a 99 f150 4x4 that I have been driving for the last 15 years. Runs great never had any major problems with it, figured I would drive it forever.

Until this weekend, ran across a deal on a 15 f150 crewcab 4x4. Omg..this thing is nice. Haven't driven a newer truck and now I'm in love.

They have came a long way in trucks.

Cool shirt.  ?

And yes.  As I posted in another thread, I kinda intentionally went in the opposite direction yesterday.  "Old" jeep (2015) was just too fancy/nice to take off-road.  "Downgraded" to a new 2017 Rubicon Recon.  Much more spartan, far fewer bells/whistles.

I'm all torn on a new truck too. Have a mint '04 Tundra with 40k miles that I can't really tow with so our '04 Suburban with an 8100 does tow duty.

I'm not sure I can bring myself to get a new diesel with all the emissions junk on them and the gassers don't pull better than the Suburban. I could get rid of two vehicles for one but I hate to send the Tundra down the road, it'll likely outlast anything I could buy today plus it really is pretty small and convenient in comparison to the new trucks.

You are right though, drove all three diesel and gas 3/4T trucks. Much nicer than even the high trim older Suburban LT.

Lol, I had intended to keep my 2000 Dakota GT forever. Until a few months ago, while I was at work, someone went in my yard and stole the wheels, brakes and control arms off of it. The spindles and hubs are no longer made, and all of the junkyard ones I could find were missing the same parts, so I had to sell it for scrap. ?

The bright side is, the guy got caught, and is now spending his next 5 years in prison. ?

I had concerns about that too, but needed one for a 5th wheel toy hauler. Got a 16 a year-and-a-half ago, so far it hasn't been a problem, but then I only have 13k miles on it. I traded in an 04, the new one is improved, it's more powerful and gets better milage too. The same color as the last one, silver, because I live on a dirt road it it doesn't show the dust as much. ?

That didn't happen in just a couple minutes,,,,,what's the story? There has to be a story.

I don't know how long it took, I was at work. But the house I lived in then (I just moved a little over a year ago) was isolated by wooded lots all around, he had enough privacy to do it.

He left prints on the truck, and he also left a bottle jack under the truck with prints on it. It turns out he had committed a string of similar robberies, and the prints he left on my truck were what finally led to him being caught.

He was sentenced to 5 years in prison and 5 years probation, plus restitution to me for my damages (the difference between what I had to sell the truck for and what it was actually worth before the theft). If he misses a single payment the probation is revoked and he will do the other 5 years inside.

Buy an older diesel and you're golden. I have a new F350 (XL trim) and an 06 F350 (Lariat). The new F350 is stock but the older one has a 'small' tune. The 06 for me is just a better truck. The '15 is just terrible for work. The sensors pretty much kill the performance. When a wheel slips, power and torque are reduced... For driving in the snow it's probably the worst truck I've owned. But I do have a new F150 too and it's been a great truck for day to day stuff, but nowhere near a work truck...

I'm not a fan of any of the newer models. They made them huge and brick shaped to mimic big rigs. The bodies are super bulbous. What's funny is big rigs are actually designed to be as aerodynamic and efficient as possible for the job they have to do. Then they mimic that in a much smaller package with a different job and end up with reduced efficiency in the name of styling and pecker measuring. They're so big they barely fit in parking spots and don't for most of the craptastic parkers of the world. They pretty much just go against everything I hold dear lol.

I'd love an old school sized ranger with a coyote engine ? . Big ol brakes and stiff suspension. If you need to tow you could throw some bags of cement in the bed to get some weight.

Nice 12 valve Cummins are virtually non existent now. ?

Still driving my '03. ?

Theft of anything has been unheard of in the immediate vicinity. Dead end road and retired M&P across the road and next door on the way out. ?

The only thing better than parking a full size truck with a backup camera is parking with the 360 degree camera available with the 2016 and newer f150s.

Drove my buddy's 2017 and its like a drone is hovering over you when you park.

Thought thats cool. Handy cuz it seems in parking lots they mark 3 parking spaces where they used to mark 2

Edit: i guess 360 was available in 2015.

Drove that bitch 5,000 miles on our honeymoon. Navigating the streets of New Orleans was a trick. No cameras.

Drove my 2001 Expedition until May of this year. Replaced it with a '16 Expy Limited. 365 hp and 420 ft-lb torque from a little twin turbocharged 3.5l (214 cu in). 214 is my lucky number, and this little truck is awesome. Can't recommend this motor enough.59bfc5c7241ec_ExpyBoat.jpg.3ead2a7f811af851d430717cc85eb60c.jpg

Extreme high mpg if you pin it to 50 mph. Not practical but a good example of what is possible with that little motor.

I heard good things about the 3.5, but I wanted the 302. No turbo to mess with, just a cheap long lasting engine.
Did average 20 mpg on the way into work this morning, running 75-80 mph. Which to me is pretty good. My old 4.6 would get about 12.

I drove the brand new V6 explorer we have at work around 300 miles down the highway the other day, only got 20.5mpg because I was running 80-85mph the whole time.

Back in 2011 when Ford first got the 300hp v6 they ran one around a track at ~45mph to see how far it would go. It got 776.6 miles on one tank (48.5). Fuel mileage is highly dependent on speed because of how wind drag works. At a low speed on the highway you can get some rediculous numbers.
