Beta xTrainer - pros/cons of a 120 vs 110 rear tire?

Recommended Posts

Funny you should ask, just put a 120/100 on my XT a couple of weeks ago. The 120/100 is HUGE!... didn't think I was going to be able to get it back on the bike.

It did go back on, the only problem is very slight rub on the mud flap when the rear suspension is way down in the stroke, I think I will try the 120/90 next time.

Great tire for mountain single track

Sizing differs from brand to brand. In general the wider the tire, more work is needed to lean the bike and wheel grabs sides of ruts. Wider also protect the rim a little more. I don't find the XT lacking in traction.

My bib fit pretty much the exact same in a 140/80 Mitas as it did in the 110/100 shinko 505. The 120 is a tall tire!

Just put a 120 505 on my 16 XT.  Slight rub on the mudflap, but the thing is magic.  Did a 100 mile enduro and a few hours of single track training with it.  I'll continue to run a 120 505 on this bike.
