Counter shaft seal leak

Recommended Posts

16 yz450 countershaft seal leak, diagnosed leak to be between inner part of seal & bearing, have replaced seal + bearing + oring, still signs of leak past sproclet but not leaking as if it were pouring out, any suggestions? I had replaced the seal twice now with all new parts.

no damage on the shaft itself - as in - might be destroying the inner seal lip ?

theres an o-ring as well behind the bearing

yes i have replaced the oring, but I did wonder if the shaft could be bent? not sure how to tell if it is bent as there is no visible evidence & there is no vibration

I run proper chain slack, not sure how that would effect it

Mine was leaking alitte also but I just took collar off cleaned seal, lightly greased and stopped leak . I doubt your bearing is bad or shaft bent.

If it is leaking down the sprocket splines you can clean the parts with brake parts cleaner and then use a little RTV on the sprocket to bushing interface and or on the sprocket splines to seal it up. Be careful not to use too much rtv.
