Beginning to think the speedometer may be accurate

Recommended Posts

I have done a few top speed runs using a speedometer app on my I phone and the GPS of the phone gives me the same reading as the odometer shows.I just hit a top speed of 81 and it felt like the speedometer was ready to go to 82 MPH but I ran out of road.Pulled over and checked the phone app and it showed I had hit 81.7 I guess it is possible it could have an accurate speedometer, just  not the norm for bikes.I was only doing this because I just installed an EJK was I was trying a different setting.Anyone else with stock gearing believe their speedometer to be accurate?

my '16 read about 3-4MPH high on the highway when it was new.  of course GPS can also be off a bit if it doesn't factor in elevation changes correctly, or doesn't have enough satellites to read at a high resolution

run a mile at 60 (or whatever), compare. that's roughly sixty waypoints to compare to the speedometer. most phones can give you 1pt/sec.
