I can not imagine nothing more reliable  than the XR series...more than 35 years of joy and BRAAAPPPP... I no longer see its contemporaries somewhere any more, no DT, no KLR, no ER...perhaps the only one of its kind capable of rivaling them are the mythicals DR 250/350.

XRs suck. Super unreliable. Just ask Scott Summers. Dude always had to carry his to the finish line:

I bet Scott would not be racing an XR today! Take Scott at his prime and today's top racers and equipment, he would be playing catch up all race long. Today you can do more with less and still have energy to hold your bike after the race.

I emailed stillwell performance today regarding suspension work.

They said the fox shock is no longer available and the ohlins that replaced it is not available yet.

But I would be more than happy with revalved Sachs.

Pricey, but available. https://www.wp-group.com/us/suspension/shocks/bavp-4618-pds-trax-shock/

MXA doesn't love it.

Trax shock is known for heavy maintenance with the drop out curcit. Most people really like this shock but they are not running WP set-up. Years ago I rode a KTM with a woods set up Cone valve forks and a trax shock. It was majic however the set up was revalved many times.
