Magneto damage

My flywheel puller bolts went in too far and did this to my magneto. Looks like the copper wire in there broke.

 

Did I just break my magneto?

Yes, obviously.  I think you may be able to just change that single coil though.  I think that is the one for the ignition, and the others with big wires for charging.

You can try Ricky Stator to see if they’ll rewind it but unfortunately you’re probably going to need a new stator. I had similar damage on a 2001 WR250F from a loose part winding up in the flywheel (my stupidity) and they wouldn’t rewind that one. What bike? Looks like pre 2003 Yamaha - WR426F? If so there might be the possibility of some interchangeability that’ll help you find one. Wish I had better news. Clay
