Steering stem bearings on a 450?

Recommended Posts

So I have noticed that the steering stem bearings on my 450 have kind of become notchy if that makes sense. Will a lack of grease make them feel that way or do I just need to replace them at that point?

Thanks

There is very little grease put on these bearings from the factory. More than likely you'll have to replace the bearings sets (1 ea. top/bottom) due to them being dry & rusty.

That bottom race will have to be cut off (I used a chesil/hammer to get mine off) & then the new race pressed back on.

My 07 has a sealed bearing on top and a standard taper bearing on the bottom. First time  doing maintenance un 2007 the bottom bearing was BONE DRY from the factory...
