450 to 250?

I found a new 2016 rmz 450 this last spring and put 20hrs on it and quite enjoy it. But I’m a smaller guy at 5’5” and 155lbs, so I always thinking I should of went with a 250f. I ride mostly sand track, class c level rider. What should I do?

Do you have a friend's bike that you could borrow to see if the 250 suits you better?

Easy. Just give me the 450 so it will free up space in your garage for the 250. You're welcome.

Hah.. no I got no buddies with any 250f. Just like to know if any of you guys went from a 450 to a 250, and your thought.

How big is it on you are you like tip toeing or have to have one leg on the ground and be almost off the seat?

I know guys who ride 450 and 250 but dont do one or the other

I’m tip toeing on all bikes, cursed with short legs.

If your comfortable on the 450 i would stay on it and also is your suspension of for you?

In my experience there is no real size difference between a 250 and 450 - just 30% more horsepower and a heavier package.

the drz450 has a seat height of 955 mm and the yz250f has a seat height of 992 mm

so the rmz 450 has a lower seat height

and i meant rmz not drz

Stock seat of a 2016 RMZ 450 & 250 are both listed at 37.6 in.
You can also change seat foam or shave down if you are height challenged.  My only point is the bikes, on paper, are similar except for power, weight and how those transition into handling for your particular setup.

is the 2017 higher

2017 450/250 are the same - 37.6 in.

2018 45 is .2 in. higher while the 2018 250 stays the same as previous years

my buddy is a bigger guy (6,1 270lbs) and bought a kx450f 2017. i rode it all summer since he had leg surgery. i am 5,11 165 pounds , i am an average c rider and the 450 was too much, it is fast on a track, but i was faster with a 2016 kx250f. i bought a rm-z250 and waiting for the summer to come back

Sand tracks suit a 450 better as the sand robs a lot of power.  If you don't feel the 450 is too powerful then stay with it.
