Chinese exhaust mod ..

Hi guys .. after a few problems I came back and today I started this ..

Chinese exhaust internal elements composition mod .. step one..

A greeting to all of youFB_IMG_1511117037342.jpg20171119_165021.jpg20171119_171103.jpg20171119_160812.jpg

project measure comes from my previous factory exhaust modification .. and will be tailored to the Chinese exhaust

Ive been looking at those exhausts, the price is attractive even if you only use the pipes with a different muffler. How does it sound before modifications? Does it have a spark arrester?

Very interesting ...and thank you for sharing...

I had made similar chambered exhaust setups some years back.... They work fantastic for stopping the sharp/percussive BARK of the 4 stroke... Very deep growl sort of sound... Like turbo mufflers on a big block... I like the sound a lot....

They make more/earlier torque than straight through glasspack silencers that restrict the outlets to control decibels... But they drop the peak HP by a few percent... I couldn't get anyone interested in them when I made them because nobody could see anything as useful except for the peak power reading...

Very interested in this thread....  I love the sound of that style of pipe...

Hi woodsryder .. the Chinese exhaust is a simple "machine gun tube" with the glass wool around and without spark arrestor .. As all the open exhaust is so much noise for no gain .. But given the low cost you can deal with a good mod by inserting a db killer .. And I've already done this. My goal now is a complete internal exhaust modify..

Thanks mixxer .. I'm now in this design phase after disassembling and measuring the Chinese exhaust

Following this thread... I'd like to have a lighter exhaust than stock while still being relatively quiet and produce good torque. I do not like the exhaust note with the supertrapp discs (power ring mod).

Of course, the note changes from muffler to muffler that the EO Power Ring is installed on.

Example:

Very nice, quiet and pleasant Note from an engine with 13.5-1 of compression pop while using 14 disks. Could not be more happy with the results.

Insanely obnoxious without the EO Power ring installed with the stock CHM exhaust outlet.

Plus, I was able to use 4 sizes smaller on the main jet with a “seat of the pants” noticeable improvement and usable pull.

I use them on all my Big Bore/stroker 230s now thanks to VortecCPI.

And NO, it does not burn, melt or even discolor my fender.

Hi adnohguy..
Supertramp I know only fame ..
My goal is a lightweight discharge and a good performance without killing my ears ..
I have already done experiments successfully and now I have to repeat my design inside the Chinese exhaust ..

I'm using the stock 230 muffler with only 10 discs. Is that CHM muffler a straight-through design?

I wouldn't consider my bike obnoxious with the current exhaust, especially at any reasonable distance based on what other riders have said when riding with me. However, it is still rather loud when on the bike. This is probably due to fact that the exhaust pushes out the circumference, bouncing the soundwaves in the direction of my ears. There is little to no burn mark on my rear fender either.

This one is super loud on one of my bikes, and is way down on power, but noise marginally acceptable on another and power increase is phenomenally better than any other system so far.

Odd to say the least because both bikes are 230’s but the one that it works well on has no stroker.

Same pipe was installed on both bikes.

my thoughts are similar to mx4god.. and my goal is to get this

Today I came to this .. maybe tomorrow I will finish ..greetings to all friends 20171122_193042.jpg.d14819eda18a271d04b79cf0e087298f.jpg20171122_193413.jpg.83b31915c3e819dfc2cca05081d04724.jpg20171122_193319.jpg.bc643fb2d3706383b04bad94cf4b3381.jpg20171122_193059.jpg.c01441d316ac19c6a781ec0be8683c0c.jpg20171122_193605.jpg.0553f92121d440110028dd15e7a910f0.jpg

I understand that you shortened the large perforated core and packing to create an open chamber. Its hard to see what's going on with the end cap. Is that black section with reduced inner core what came with the pipe? If so,.. it should already have been a very quiet muffler because of the small diameter outlet. I wish you would have tried it first before the modifications to compare sound levels.

Im guessing the small outlet core will restrict power but be fairly quiet . I also don't see an easy way to add a spark arrestor screen unless you do it internally

Is that end cap really made out of plastic!!

Nice pipe also...but:

Not so much the pipe as what engine the pipe is connected to, what frame the engine is connected to....

woodsryder .. at the end of my work you will be able to see the spark arrestor (look at the drawing) ..

I have already done this unloading modification work on original factory steel exhaust .. and everything is ok ..

Yessss adnohguy.. very nice

Look at the drawing for the spark arrestor
