I follow the Dakar but not really the 1000 and I was not expecting a night start and not that it matters but I'm impressed and out of interest what is your light setup ? ?

I've driven all the Baja north to south/east to west in my van and have done some biking around Cabo and I love the Baja ?

What was the dust like?

Smooth ride. That night time racing kind of freaks me out. Too many shadows and chupacabras out there.

JAAAA ED me too about night riding I cant see in the day time. Let alone night riding black cows and such  got a good story on that.

One rider with broke bike in canyon 13 miles from my baja home. I double him out hit HWY 1  10 PM .  He says you just rode past two black cows few feet on both sides of bike. Good thing I did not see them at 50mph. Bless you night time racers your the best.

I did the exact thing close to Catavina one night. Flew by it then realized, I guess I should be dead about now! Whew

Sometimes angus cows on the Chief Joseph scenic hiway. A sign there says "Black Cow Lives Matter".
