2017 YAMAHA TR230 Headlight install

Recommended Posts

Sub'd.  I'm planning on installing a Baja Designs halogen headlight on my 05 TTR230.

A friend did a similar mod on his Honda CRF230.  Rewound the stator and recommended the TrailTech regulator as it has a "delay shut off" circuit that leaves the headlight on, even after the engine stalls.  I think he just jerry-rigged his wiring together...

Hey,

Did you got it install? If yes, can you tell us if you had any issue? I am looking at getting one also.

Hey I installed it with no problems make sure you order the trail tech universal switch and so you won't have to wait when you figure out that it doesn't come with a switch https://www.trailtech.net/accessories/electrical-accessories/3600-pwh then I converted the not so bright halogens to LEDs that are decently bright by crimping the wires together inside the headlight http://stores.advmonster.com/h3-mesh-monster-led-headlight/ and a http://stores.advmonster.com/m5-led-spot-for-trail-tech-x2/ and then routed the wires to the battery along the frame under the gas tank only problem I have is that I can't figure out how to wire the kill switch, if you have any other questions just reply

Thanks for the fast reply. My local shop told me that I could not install a light kit without some electrical upgrade power mod a new battery. Running it for hours it will not kill your battery? Looks like I will put the order in.

Can you post a pick of what il looks like on your bike?

Depending on how many watts your stator is mine is a 65w so if I ran the high beams on for a long period of time it probably would kill the battery because each stock bulb is 35w and running high beam would be taking 70w so that's why I switched to LEDs and if you look below or whatever on my last post it should have a picture of the bike on that Instagram link if it wasn't embedded on to the post also what kind of bike do you have? If you run low beam you will have no problem if you don't convert to LEDs if you have a ttr230

I have a 2006 TTR 230, so I must assume that my stator produce 65w also. Thanks a lot for your help.

I am new to this game.
