Riding near Chehalis, WA?

Recommended Posts

Staying at a friends place about 15 miles west of Chehalis over the weekend, wondering if anyone knows of some good riding in the area?

I hear the Capitol area is closed until next month.

Any suggestions/ directions would be greatly appreciated.

I ride Walker, intermediate level.

Thanks in advance.. brraappp!!!!

There’s Elbe, probably still some snow and mainly 4 wheel drive trails.

Have never heard of either one of those areas will have to go check them out sometime but they're pretty far away, about 80 miles.

Went and found some logging roads to get my blendal fix.

Just started a new job in Olympia, so I'm looking for a place strategically located to be as close to as many different writing areas as possible.

The largest area close to Olympia is Capitol Forest with about 60+ miles of motorized trails. Tacoma Trail Cruisers are very active in CF and have a large site adjacent to CF on Sherman Valley Road. A short distance south are the Waddell Creek campground and a large day lot.
On the north side is the Rock Candy parking lot on WA-8, further west is Straddleline moto park with camping, MX track, offroad trails, etc.

All of the above, and Porter Creek CG on the west side, are interconnected via trails.

Only 6 weeks to go until May 1 opening day. There is such a maize of trails and roads that you do need a good map and GPS. One method to help familiarize your self with the terrain is to  drive the roads with a map and GPS.

This link is a geo referenced map that you can use on a smart phone. https://washingtondnr.wordpress.com/2013/03/05/top-5-reasons-to-download-the-new-capitol-state-forest-map-onto-your-smartphone/

Summit Grocery on WA-8 sells paper versions.
