New 2017 450FX Owner/Build up

Excellent.  I run them on all of my old 2 stroke carb jet skis to prevent water ingestion and they work ok.  Did you need to rejet or notice any power changes given the "reduced" air flow?

I didn’t notice any changes. I realize there is no way it doesn’t have some restriction, but my sense is minimal enough to justify the benefits.

I am a new Yamaha Superjet owner so you might have given me a tip!

I actually run the OEM flame arrestors on my 62T superjets.  I user outerwears on my sidedraft seadoo race motors.

I like to tinker with things.

Ah yes, upgraditus. I too have been afflicted with this for many years.

Sometimes I think I like tinkering as much as I like riding. On my bicycles that surely became the case. Not quite there yet on my YZ, though I will probably get there. Need news knees and I have an inner ear problem, so there isn’t much riding these days. It is a daily challenge not to just click away and get everything I’ve tagged on my RM ATV wish list.

The struggle is real...

added GYTR case cover to reclaim some more real estate and I hear it adds a little more oil capacity.  I also added a probolt race spec bolt kit but I broke two of the bastards.  Now I'm looking or the best possible extraction method since one of them is in the cases (clutch cable guide).

I ordered a set of pro carbon racing tank covers and new stomp grip to apply to them as the fuel tank outgassing and causing it t peel and bubble.  Some HD 3M tape and the covers will solve the problem permanently.  I have a 4 day trip coming up next week.  It's been a long, cold, snowy winter here and I'm looking forward to a long season!

I also replaced the front fender with the correct Cycralite part as the bolt pattern is different 10-13 from 14-18.  My suspension guy also recommended installing billet spring perches next service as they switched to plastic in '16.  My free pistons were in good shape without any cracks and I'll probably just swap them into my tanked YZ250 forks that I'll be using for my 325 build.

A couple of people including myself are curious as to how the Zeta Fork Caps are holding up? I plan to purchase some but cannot find any reviews. Any feedback would be appreciated.

They work well, great for making adjustments on the fly.

Awesome! No leaks so far or anything out of the ordinary?? I plan on getting them, they seem too good to be true ?

No leaks, they were a bit stiff at first but loosed up with use.

Hey I have to ask, how is that X seat? I was looking to buy one and wanted to know what the advantages are.

It's very grippy on the sides and is passively firm which makes for solid body contact.  It does not have the hard, pentagonal edges which I didn't care for with the stock seat as the seam irritated my thighs on long, sit-possible rides.  I'll be in your area this weekend riding warner valley.  I was able to sneak my tusk hose guard back on behind the skid plate for lateral hose protection.

Sweet build very similar to my 16, only I am running a rekluse, I did the same rims and tubliss system. I did the FMF full Ti exhaust system. I am running AVS levers and the Acerbis hand guards.  I went with Facotry Connection suspension and lowering link that made a huge difference for me and the twitchiness of the old stock setup. I also have the Twin Air power flow system, I went with Scott’s dampener and the BRP upper triple clamp i like my silicone hoses and I did a full radiator cage for protection. I did the Baja Designs LED front light and stock WR rear light so I can hit the street without getting busted immediately after a long ride I have a 3 gallon IMS tank but have never needed to install it. After seeing your build it gave me lots of ideas for the bolt on protection that you are running I think you have a very nice setup thanks for sharing

Right on.  After this trip I am seriously thinking about trying a Rekluse.  I thought I would be more used to the stall-happy nature of the Fi at this point but I still find myself having to carry more revs or momentum over obstacles than I used to with a carb bike.  I have a few more goodies (motion pro rev 2 throttle, JGR plug retainer) to install before calling her done for the season.
