Enduro bike wins Aussie MX 125 Gold Cup Race

Recommended Posts

Well blow me down, many many naysayers have always said  that Sherco's and Beta's would require massive changes to be competitive in MX and therefore do not need an "XC/MX" model. There are those of us that disagree, and believe going fast on 2 wheels is the object, not what you category you select your "dirt bike" from. This is a story about a Sherco winning in a race that admittedly is not the most talent laden class in the world, in a Beta forum. The point, nevertheless proves that this new era of 125 2t enduro's is going to prove to be competitive in ANY arena, whether it's a prepped track or single track. The mentions of Beta in this thread are many and with great respect. I love this quote "Sherco is the new Beta, Beta is the new KTM".

On a related note, MX Sports has announced that 7 of the AMA National MX promoters have agreed to have 1 moto of 125 2t "All Star" races with a minimum age of 16 and Pro's allowed. Now if we could just round up some sponsors and field a team with a Beta, a Sherco and a TM it would be the coolest "underdog" team around  Ty Cullins this has your name all over it!

Conrad's to the 125 class. Locally here the 125 class is dead outside the XC3 in GNCC. For a 125, power for the woods or MX should be nearly the same as you have to ride on the pipe all the time. 250's are a different story as the endure model is lacking when used on the MX tracks. Yes I'm one of those that say endure bikes can't be competitive in the MX world without $$ thrown at it. It's nice to see AMA trying to bring back a 125 class.

Hold on, gang, this needs rewritten: you CAN race TMs, Betas, GasGas, etc... So long as they are current models, within three years of most recent release date. This rule was about not having "vintage" bikes out there from the nineties or whatever. If it's a current, available-on-the-market 125cc dirt bike, you can race it. If it's a no-longer-in-production bike, it needs to be within three years of last release.

We will clear that up in the rules, sorry.
