How Hard is it to split the crankcase on 1996 XR600R

Hey guys,

Just wondering how hard it is to do and is there any tricks or tips people can give me to do it right. i need to open it up to replace gear selector shaft and countershaft.

If you are gonna do it, you might as well use the XR600R countershaft and throw yourself a kickstarter in that bad boy

I used a little chunk of wood as a punch and a rubber mallet to split it.

Throw a 600r shaft and a kickstarter on a kick only 96 600r? Maybe if it needs a new part

Figured. I'm just bustin your balls!
Wooden dowel tap tap round and round the motor. Most of my taps force are in the direction lifting right side first. And blowtorch the sticky spots. But round and round. Evenly. Not 10 taps left 10 taps right.

Depends on how much power you're making.
