Polaris 500 AT Bad ECM?

Recommended Posts

I am working on a 2005 Polaris 500 AT with some very strange electrical issues. The only way I can get the pod and the rest of the system to power up is to sort of scratch the connections against the power source. Tried replacing the ends and same effect. Once I get the power to come on it seems to stay on unless I turn off the key or the key switch and then same thing. To make it even more goofy they two wires that I have to the scratching with show power to the ECM even when the pod is not lit up.

Any ideas? The ECM is about $400 and of course can't return it if it turns out to be something else......

Had similar issues on an '04 that I inherited. It saw a lot of time on the back of a trailer during winter months; salt ate up the 'sealed' circuit breakers, connectors, ground locations, etc. I ended up replacing the main wiring harness. It works great now.
