2018/2019 390 vs. 2012 450

Hello

I have just sold my 2012 450RR. is there anyone who has owned older 450 and now owns 390. How the power and torque of the new 390(2018+) compares to older 450? I'm about to buy new 2019 390 or 430 and can't decide which one suits me better. i'm riding technical enduro tracks and bigger forest roads. The old 450 was a bit too much in the technical trails...

From what I understand, the 390 is a long stroke vs the 450 with a short stroke. The 450 will have a snappy feel and like to rev. Where the 390 went rev as much out is better at low speed lugging, but still has plenty of power.

My personal experience is the 390 is great in the woods.

Never ridden the 450 but I love my 390 and use it the same way as you. We ride everything from single track, 2 track, FS roads and dirt roads. It'll cruse at 60mph all day and not break a sweat. Not quite as fast or quick in the open as my buddies on 450's/500's but when the going gets tight they all wish they had my 390. It truly is a do it all bike. Check out some of firffighter's post, he has some good video reviews on the 390.

I guess you can’t go wrong with a 430 or 390.  There have been improvements even from when Beta went and lightened the bike and moved the motor when going from a 450 to a 430 some years ago.  Just going to an upgraded 430 is great and guys love the 390 too. If it were me I’d gravitate towards the 430 rs. I really liked the 430 race I got to ride a couple years ago. ...but so many are crazy for 390 now . I’d like to try the newest versions of both.

Really there are great reviews of both a 390 and 430 too.

End of the week? Where are you at? I was just told by a dealer in PA they won’t be available until late September.
