TRYING TO GIT HER GOIN

HEY SO IVE GOT THIS XT 550 THAT BY ALL visual indicators seems to be in good condition but the crank case cover on the right has a hole in it from the kickstarter im wondering how often this happens and where i could scource the cover or could i just jb weld it like the internet says

also i was wondering if the rebounding kickstart causing damage to the case cover is a common issue with high compression bikes ? or if i should invest in a new kickstart?

is the auto-decomp working ?

how are you starting it ?

kick it just after TDC

i havent started it ever this was inherited  but the hole in the case cover is obvi from the kickstart i just want to know if thats mechanically preventable also i thinkn it has a switch for decomp
