Building a xr80 racer

I have a 81 xr80 I’m turning into a race bike for the local xr race once a year and I was just wondering if anyone has any suggestions for upgrading the rear shocks. The rules say stock frame, cases and wheel size.

Hey Aaron- check on webike.com out of Japan. Over there they still produce lay down frame bikes. I think they call them the ape and monkey. Hope to see you at the grass race next season

There's a guy on ebay called vintageworks142 that will build you a set of shocks with remote reservoirs and clickers.  Is it an 80 class only or are xr100's ok?  He also sell's 95 kits as well.  You can run TTR125 small wheel forks too.  I would covertly put a 17" early Cr80 front wheel on it too or a 17" TTR steel wheel.

The bike is a 82 xr80. I got a 146 kit from webike was wondering about something from a production bike for rear shocks. Maybe front shocks from a quad? Plenty of spring rates available and decent travel. Just wondering if anyone has already tried this already

Oh and 100’s are allowed as far as I know. There’s a twin shock and a single shock class

Is there still the restriction of a 14/17 wheel set. I remember there was a 121cc limit.

17 inch front wheel is allowed because of lack of tires. Pretty sure no engine limit. Can’t wait till my 120 kit comes

I was joking because you said something about 121 limit. I got the tak 146 kit

Did you get the super head with the kit. Let me know how it goes together and runs out. I have been using engines only forever but want to try the takegawa setup with there clutch and cover. What are you doing for the carb

Yea I got the roller rocker set up. Haven’t figured out the carb yet those yosh carbs look pretty sweet tho. I’ve been looking at the 6 speed trans.

XR100's are not "supposed" to be legal. XR75-XR80 (CRF80) frame and engine cases are what the rules say.

guess I’m building a 80 for the “race bike” now then
