Using a trx450 piston in my crf450r

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone,

This is my first post on this site. I am currently rebuilding my 04 crf450r. I was doing some research on using a trx450 piston in my bike. I like the idea because of having the extra piston rings and stuff. My question is will an 04 trx450 piston work in my 04 crf450r and what size bore should it be?

Thank you all

I’ve seen a long time ago on here where a guy using a TRX450 piston in a CRF450x, the CRF450X and the CRF450R use the same piston so it is possible, the report was, oil consumption went down and there was no noticeable power loss. Use the search bar, the thread is still on here. I just checked

you cannot use an 04 TRX450R piston. you will have to use an 06 or newer TRX450R piston. The 2004/2005 TRX was only 94mm Bore whereas the 2006 and newer is a 96MM bore like the CRF450 is.
