Hanging idle on a 2014 crf 450r

Recommended Posts

I have a hanging idle on a EFI bike. Cleaned all, inspected throttle cable, cleaned throttle body but still hangs. It gets to normal after 10 secounds or more.

I'd suspect you've got an air leak somewhere. But...You could have a situation where the TPS is slightly advanced causing it to be slightly rich and the ignition timing is closer to trying to advance when it shouldn't be.

One thing, that idle speed is important. It really should be set at 1800-1900 rpm when everything else is correctly set. Setting the idle speed higher is usually a bandaid for an improper setting somewhere else (TPS 0% throttle setting, engine running too cool and that happens a lot, or the ECT thinks it's colder than what it is)

First thing I do is pull the fast idle (choke knob) and make sure its working correctly. And you cant set that idle speed until the engine is hot. If you do it cold, it'll be too fast when warm.
