2000 KX250 with 1991 bottom end swap: Will it work?

Recommended Posts

I have a 2000 KX250 with a busted case and destroyed crank and bearings. I also have a 1991 KX250 with a destroyed cylinder. Does anyone know if it would be possible to put a 2000 crank with the longer stroke into the 1991 bottom end and run the 2000 cylinder on it. I see that both cranks have the same model of replacement main bearings, but I haven't compared the shafts yet. As far as I can tell there isnt anything physically stopping me from putting the 2000 cylinder on the 91 case, and all of the powervalve stuff looks like it should hook up. Would appreciate any advice, dont want to waste my money on the wrong rebuild kit.

Longer stroke will not work with the stock cylinder porting.  I am also fairly certain the pattern is different for the cylinder base.

What happened to 00 case and crank. Crank bearings is probably all they share. All 4 brands use same bearings at some point.
